1. The immediate past Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Umar Ahmed Imam has left the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kogi State for the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

The former speaker, who announced his defection in Lokoja, during the weekend, said he was shut out of APC and never recognized as a party member, let alone as a leader down to his own ward.

2. Gunmen struck again on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway on Sunday evening, killing and abducting scores of travellers.

The attack occurred near Gidan Busa village, located between Jere and Kateri, along the expressway that has witnessed several attacks in recent years.

3. The Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC) has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) government led by President Muhammadu Buhari, over how they treated the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

R-APC spokesman, Kassim Afegbua, regretted Saraki’s travails since his trial began at the Code of Conduct Tribunal that lasted for three years.

4. Buruji Kashamu, the Senator representing Ogun East at the National Assembly, has belamed Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, for the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the July 14 governorship election in the State.

Kashamu, who is a member of the PDP, said the defeat was inevitable, seeing how a former interim Caretaker Chairman of the PDP, Ahmed Makarfi, encouraged Fayose to drive away other party stakeholders in the South-West.

5. Former Speaker of the Abia state House of Assembly, Agwu Agwu, has reportedly dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Announcing his defection to newsmen on Sunday, in Umuahia, the state capital, the publicity secretary of APC in Abia, Comrade Benedict Godson, explained that the former speaker had registered in his ward (Ozu Abam) in Arochukwu local government area, which qualified him as a member of APC in Abia state.

6. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Sunday said the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, has become ‘jittery over the mega-coalition between the PDP and 38 other political interests, leading to his resort to hauling of misdirected insults and abuses on the PDP.’

PDP said Oshiomhole’s ‘resort to insults betrays the confusion of a depressed politician seeking to cover his personal vacuity and inner fears of the inevitable defeat awaiting President Muhammadu Buhari and his dysfunctional APC in 2019.’

7. Four policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, in the Lagos State Command have been dismissed by the Nigeria Police Force.

The officers were sacked for alleged professional misconduct, corrupt practices and discreditable conduct.

8. The Director General, Voice of Nigeria (VON) and chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Osita Okechukwu, on Sunday urged former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and indeed all Nigerians to join President Muhammadu Buhari to fight insecurity instead of comparing the dead with those killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Okechukwu reacted when he was confronted by journalists in Enugu over the successful presidential declaration of His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar for the 2019 presidential election, where the former vice president made the lamentation over the killing

9. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said that the recent invitation of Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari to the Hague to present a keynote address for the commissioning of one of its new court was done in bad faith.

IPOB stated that the refusal of the federal government, led by Buhari to release duo of Shitte Muslim leaders, Sheikh El-Zakzaky and former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki, despite court orders, disqualified Buhari from such assignment.

10. Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Timi Frank, has said that the ‘promises of oil well and automatic tickets to some leaders of rAPC by the presidency’ won’t stop their planned defection in matter of days.

He, however, declared that about five govenors, 30 serving Senators and 135 House of Representatives members will all dump APC soon, assuring that there is no going back in their plan to stand by Nigerians who have asked them to leave.
